How does hair get thinner?

An often misunderstood concept is that hairs from balding scalps are NOT lost in one instance thereafter never to be replaced. In actual fact, hairs go through a growth cycle as illustrated below. In a balding or thinning scalp these processes still continue, even in affected areas, but the new hair is progressively thinner and thinner and thinner until it is colourless vellus hair (peach fuzz).

There are 3 stages of the hair growth cycle. Notice how the Anagen phase is by far the longest stage of the cycle where the active growth takes place. The longer the Anagen phase, the thicker and longer the hair will become.

It is universally agreed that men and women with male/female pattern baldness have increased levels of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp DHT contributes to a shortening of the growth phase and a thinning of the hair. See in the diagram below how the hairs become thinner, smaller and gradually miniturized as time in the prescence of DHT is prolonged.

How does Nanoguard work?

Nanoguard Root Defence works locally by lowering the levels of DHT in the scalp tissues by partially blocking 5-alpha reductase (5-AR), which is an important enzyme involved in regulating the hair folicale.

Modern anti-hair loss drugs work in the same way, that is blocking the converstion of Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone by means of the converting enzyme, 5-alpha reductase - BUT - oral medecines like'finasteride' or Propecia (brand name) that work systemically (ie. throughout the body) have been critisised heavily by many users because of the high incidense of side-effects reports such as problems with libido, maintenance of erections, acne, weight-gain, increased hairiness on the rest of the body and others.

There is such a severe risk to the foetus of a pregnant women that adult females should not even handle the finasteride-containing tablet, which has meant that women cannot benefit from anti-DHT technology until now.

Directions for use

  1. Wash scalp using Nanoguard as a shampoo.

  2. Leave in for 3 minutes. Avoid contact with eyes.

  3. Rinse gently and thoroughly.

  4. Wash using a regular shampoo if required.

  5. Repeat minimum 3 times per week.

Don't just take our word for it!
